Hello,

( 1) I have couple of queries from my application team on the followings, hope you can shed some light:
1. how to check whether my site has installed JMS on z/OS. We have MQ V5.3.1 running on z/OS V1R7.
2. how to activate JMS (assuming I do have JMS) on z/OS
3. what's the requirement of using JMS
4. any reference guide which u can share with me
5. any other concerns
( 2) Thank you.

.Hoe San.

Presupposing you mean IBM WMQ as JMS rather than another provider (in which case you're in the wrong forum):

1. Do you have the JMS jar files available on the system?
2. How do you mean "activate"?
3. Java coded to the JMS standard
4. The "Using Java" documentation supplied with MQ
5. You're asking very odd & very simple questions that can be answered by 5 minutes with the manual or 10 minutes experiementation

Hello,

1. Yes, I am assuming IBM WMQ JMS.
2. How to check whether my z/OS site has JMS jar files?
3. I have got hold of the documentation and browsing thru' it.
However, I do need a bit of guidance from u experts out there.
Thank you very much for your guidance.

See if they're installed? With ISPF or similar?

If you don't know how to do that, speak to the site system programmer. Or try it. If you can't import them into the Java app they're not installed or installed someplace your CLASSPATH can't see them.

But you're asking very broad questions - "How do I use JMS on z/OS" is the sort of thing you could get a 3 week training course out of.

If you're asking "How do I use JMS" there are a multiude of training & other resources. If you're asking something else please rephrase your question.

And I still don't know what you mean by "activate"

FTP to your mainframe (HFS) and CD to /usr/lpp/mqm/java/lib

should find com.ibm.mq.jar and com.ibm.mqjms.jar and jms.jar there

Thanks ZPAT and Vitor for your responses.

What I mean by "activate"?
I meant what actions the MQ sys admin need to perform in order that appl folks can use WMQ JMS on z/OS.

Thank you.

One would hope that they know this already (?).
