I am trying to monitor and record the traffic on a queue running on MQseries on linux, version 5.30.

MQ visual edit doesn't seem to do this, what tool is available to do this?

I am intending on record/playback testing of downstream servers.

Please use at least v5.3 FP 12.

MQ Visual Edit is designed to be a Message Editor.

So it should not be surprising that it can't be used as a Message Replication or Monitoring Tool.

There are better ways to do "playback" testing of programs than by capturing data at the MQ level.

You can look at the sample program "mirrorq" to record messages.

We are using 530.10, I have no control over that

I do realize that for playback/record there are better ways. I am dealing with poor/insufficient documentation on the mainframe end and want to verify the format as sent.

All of the instabilities in CSD8 and 9 are not fixed until an interim fix on top of CSD11.

CSD10 is not very useful.

I realize it's out of your control.

Again, you can look at mirrorq.
