Just curious, do any of you have both WPS and WBIMB in your environment?
I know WBIMB is far superior in message translation compared to features in WPS but
both products also have certain features in common. For example, webservices implementation,
simple mapping (xml to xml) and WPS can be used to build flows as done in WBIMB using java ...
So is there any best practice/guidelines to help us choose the right product for the requirements?
Any comments/recommendations on this is really appreciated.

It's more a matter of the role of thing you're trying to build, rather than particular capabilities of a given product.
Message Broker is positioned as an advanced enterprise service bus tool - so the idea is to use it for providing the kinds of services that are needed across the enterprise - routing, app-to-app interfaces (translation), auditing, event services, and etc. It's also positioned for high performance any-to-any interfaces, whereas the WAS stack products are a lot more focused on XML transformations.
WPS is positioned for running BPL - business processes - including stateful long running business processes. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Thanks jefflowrey! For routing especially, do you use any products (like WSRR) with WBIMB?
I have seen docs explaining how to use it with WPS.
We are planning to use WPS connected to WSRR to route requests, centered around WBIBM for any-any translation,
and thirdparty software for EDI translation (as it has been around for quite a while).
Any recommendations on how the communication between WPS and WBIMB should be.. using MQ or WS calls..?
Any pointers on this would also be appreciated.
Thanks again! _________________ IBM Certified System Administrator - Websphere MQ V5.3 |

You can use both MQ and Web Services for the interaction between the two. It really depends on what you are trying to achieve. Both WPS and WMB talk Web Services and MQ |
