Does anyone have the parm TRACSTR set to yes in their production Queue Managers on the Mainframe? Will setting this parm to yes cause overhead?

Thanks!!

Tracing will usually always increase overhead.

What are you wanting to trace?

I personally would only turn tracing on if IBM requested it and then only if MQ was having system failures. If the application is having trouble, shoot the dump or have the programmer insert their own trace points.

Just my $.02

Thank you Kevin!!

I was going through their logs and noticed they had tracing turned on with the tracstr parm set to 1. I am sure that it is out of the box.. Now to tackle their buffer pool and page dataset issues...... Again, thank you for your input.
