Is anyone prepared to speculate whether WMQ v6 on AIX (being 64 bit and using IPv6) would be able to manage more/less concurrent sender/receiver channel pairs than v5.3 on the same machine? Does anyone know enough about the TCPIP stack on AIX to give an opinion? |

How many SNDR/RCVRs do you want? _________________ Peter Potkay

About 1500 pairs at this stage and possibly more in the future.
I'm trying to get a handle on how many machines I will need to support this many before the performance degrades too much. The channels will be all active all the time although the traffic rate will not be high.
I have seen the support packs and the 6000 channel pairs on AIX and the effect this many had on round trip times. I'm assuming I will get about 1000 per machine when I test although I'm keen to hear of any real experience with these kind of numbers.
I am interested if WMQ 6.0 will bring anything to the table regarding channel performance that is new over 5.3.

If the traffic is not high can you take the performance hit of triggered channels ? |

While the traffic is not high, it is constant so I don't think the hit of bringing the channels up and down will buy me much. |
