I am currently involved in a performance analysis of a z/OS MQSeries V5.3.0 subsystem in a non-clustering / non-shared queue environment. MQ is connected to CICS. Output from Strobe performance analysis reports indicate that over 13% CPU time for MQ is spent in MQ LOG RECORD REBUILD. Does anyone have any idea what this may be and why the CPU percent for this category is what I consider high?
*Note* The MQ LOG RECORD REBUILD category does not show up for other similiar MQ regions.

I am courious if you see this in the MSTR?

Not that the message is your problem, but I tend to lean towards that CICS is backing out a lot of work. Can you check if CICS is doing a lot of syncpoint rollbacks? Another thing I would want to know is MQSeries reading old archieve logs. This is a start.

Thanks for the reply javagate. I do not see the LONG-RUNNING UOW messages in the MQ MSTR started task. I also do not see MQ reading old archive log tapes. I am still checking to determine if CICS is doing a lot of syncpoint rollbacks. Will post when I find out something.
