Hello,
I would like to understand why we can connect from a MQSeries Client to a Queue Manager on Z/OS 390 (M/F) but we cannot (it is not supported) to connect a MQClient on M/F to other MQ QueueManager ?
...I know only that the licence on Z/ OS is a really High cost .

Not quite true. If you can run Java on the MF you could use the Java client to connect to a "distributed" qmgr....

Have you actually done this? (reason I ask is you are the 1st person who has mentioned this that I know of). Makes sense though.....

Conceivably you could also run MQ Everyplace (client and/or server) using the z/OS JVM.
I think IBM (fairly reasonably) regard z/OS as a server and not as a client platform.
We have one older mainframe (out of about a dozen) without MQ and wrote a CICS-CICS link using CPI-C (APPC) to effectively bridge messages over to another mainframe which was licensed for MQSeries.
So you might do something like that - using APPC or IP sockets perhaps. |

There is not MQClient for z/OS, only Server.
The mainframe is a Server Platform by definition.

Did you tried to use MA088 (MQseries Classes for Java) on MF ?
It seems that these classes exists for many platform except for MF.

MA88 is obsolete for 5.3 - unless it's been updated and I haven't noticed.
The Java MQ Client API is pure 100% java, so it is portable across any machine.
I haven't tried this API on a z/OS machine.
