I would like to configure Oracle 8i to be Transaction coordinator and MQseries to be Resource Manager.

The objective is to write a c program that update oracle tables and make puts and gets on MQSeries as a single unit of work.

I don't want MQSeries to be the coordinator.

What is the question here? Can you please elaborate?
Have you checked if Oracle can be an XA compliant resource coordinator?
Stefan

If Oracle8i can act as an XA transaction manager then what you ask should be doable.

Oracle is XA compliant... but I can't find any example of making it a coordinator.

Examples that I found, usually works with some Oracle Databases and not with an external resource like MQSeries.
