Hi,
I have a C program written on a unix server on which the mq server component is installed. It has to communicate to a CICS program which picks up the message and writes it to DB2.The mq server component is installed on mainframe too.A sender-reciver channel would be required in this case.
Would an MQI channel be also reqd??
The docs states that an MQI channel
is reqd only in case of a Java Client.
Why is that so?
What exactly is an MQ Client?
Is it the one on which the client component
of MQ is installed?
It cannot create any MQ components.
In what cases would one install the MQ Client?

Thanks,
Vandana

An MQ client is a relatively thin layer that operates the MQI "remotely" over a client channel to a MQ server.

It's required when there is no local MQ Server or when the application is written to use the client connection APIs only.

It's good practice to code your applications to work with either MQ client or MQ server.
