Again, go to google.

Search for mq+trace and mq+ssl. These searches will yield the appropriate documentation for both.

Instructions for configuring are in the documentation, but how exactly you need to set it up will be reliant of site standards & exact requirements.

I'd worry about the basic setup first, then go back to trace if you need it.

You're much better advised to keep going to your management until they send you on some training courses. You've a long road in front of you and we're not equipted to be an effective training resource. Pinging the forum every time you get stuck is likely to be a frustrating experience.

IBM offers these specific training courses:

You need to take this course immediately:

- WM20 - WebSphere MQ System Administration (distributed) - 4 day, lecture and hands-on lab exercises on Windows or AIX or Linux. AIX and Solaris are pretty much identical as far as WMQ is concerned.

A follow-on course, after you have mastered WMQ basic system administration:
- WM21 - WebSphere MQ Advanced System Administration (distributed) - 3-day lecture and hands-on lab exercises.

Go to www.ibm.com/training/us, and enter WM20 in the search text box.

You are not wasting our time. Rather, we believe that you are mostly wasting your time.

[edit]

What you should have learned and understood thus far is that you lack the basics of WMQ sufficient to do effective problem-determination. This is due to lack of training, and not necessarily your fault.

[/edit]

No need to ask for forgiveness. You cannot reasonably expect to start learning WMQ by starting with advanced tasks - a broken and out-of-support queue manager, on a questionable o/s configuration, with little/no help from co-workers.

Please do so. But expect that most responses will be to direct you to do research on your own BEFORE coming here for help, and to get formal training. Many/most of the things you are asking are documented in the manuals and in the InfoCenter.

Get trained. Basic problem-determination tasks are discussed in the WM20 class, and include hands-on lab exercises.
