Not so fast. It really depends on how/what PM4DATA is recording the elapsed time. For example, if you start a job to send a file:
1. Is the start time, the first API call made from the job, or is it after the receiving end completes the allocation of the target file?
2. Is the channel in an inactive state, or is it in a running state. The channel startup is probably the costliest part of the whole process, so if it's already active, that's not cricket when you compare it against FTP, which undergoes the overhead of establishing a connection each time it runs.
3. Is it compressing the data? Granted V6 provides that feature, but prior versions didn't. If you're going to compare the two, giving one compression and not the other, is not the same. |
