In this scenario, if the channels goes to PAUSED and when the channel goes to STOPPED depends on if you have a DLQ defined and what the RCVR channel's Message Retry Count is set to.

We have a set up wehere we receive messages from a mainframe system across a sender-reciever channel pair and land on the local queue on broker queue manager from where the flow picks up and processes the messages.

We had a similar situation where the queue on our local queue manager was full and messages staretd going to DLQ and channel went into PAUSED/STOPPED state (don't remeber what situataion we had). It was told us by admins that the channel went down because the queue was full, as it was DEV nobody has given any importance to it. After going through this thread, I want to understand it little more in depth...If the queue is full, the subsequent messages will eventually end up in DLQ. As we have DLQ defined the channel will go into PAUSED state not at all STOPPED state? OR will it go to STOPPED state after certian period of time ..may be after excedding the message retry count?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks

You might want to read about channel operations in the WMQ Intercommunications manual.

I quote from that reference:
Quote:
If a channel is unable to put a message to the target queue because that queue is full or put inhibited, the channel can retry the operation a number of times (specified in the message-retry count attribute) at a given time interval (specified in the message-retry interval attribute). Alternatively, you can write your own message-retry exit that determines which circumstances cause a retry, and the number of attempts made. The channel goes to PAUSED state while waiting for the message-retry interval to finish.
