for faster reading you can use:
Code:
amqoamd -s

The information is then in setmqaut format.

Thanks

That is a good tip... much easier to read.

So that looks like...

that all looks fine though.

Perhaps is the VB layer. I wonder if I were to do the same simple thing but in one of the test programs using the two alternate connections types (local and remote syntax) and see what happens...

Naw, this must be security.

My laptop is named PIKACHU. The QM is PIKACHU.QM

If I go into MQ Explorer, I can see PIKACHU.QM in native (local) mode, but if I try to add via "Show Queue Manager" and I select "show a remote queue manager" and provide queue manager name PIKACHU.QM and connection PIKACHU I get the popup error dialog

Queue manager is not available for connection. Ensure that the queue manager is running. If the queue manager is running on another computer, ensure it is configured to accept remote connections"

So I'm sure that's it. Where/How do I do that? I do only have the local default set up with this install.

I use MQ Visual Edit (nice product).

If I try to add a profile for my laptop to PIKACHU.QM to MQ Visual Edit I get the error

Unexpected error

Reason code 2195

MQRC_UNEXPECTED_ERROR

If that helps. Perhaps there's a listener issue.

Try disabling Windows Firewall entirely.

Are you sure you registered the right version of the .NET dll in the GAC?

If you have an old registration, but a new version, that could cause some problems.

Can you channel ping the svrconn/telnet to the listener port?

Well, I don't know about the DLL. I got it when I downloaded CSD10 from IBM. That's the one I included in my assembly. And the VB program works when I don't specify a network MQ (in other words when I use the local). I'm also seeing that I can't connect using MQ Visual Edit, when I specify to connect over the network.

I can telnet to pikachu 1414.

Could it be that the ID running your listener is not part of the mqm group and has no permissions on the qmgr ?
I had once such a problem on Unix and everything seemed fine but I could just not get at the qmgr (rcvr and svrconn channels just did not work root was running the listener and was not part of mqm group.)

Could it be that some other process is using port 1414 ?
