Tons of messages flying through constantly, so not BATCHINT.

Quote:

Do you use a security password synchronization product?

Don't know, but even we did, why only these 2 servers?

Like I said before, if there is an "M" and a "Q" in the error output and in some cases even if there isn't. The title of the ticket is "Problem with MQ" or some such.

That said, Peter what are you doing to resolve this issue?

Yeah, the title of the problem being broadcast to the whole company says MQ problem.

No the problem still occurs.

And get this, pings to the RILO boards on these 2 servers time out at the exact same time. RILO boards that have their own NIC card, their own cables, their own power supply, that don't care if the OS is even running.

Obviously, to me, this means it is something common to 2 public NICs and 2 RILO NICs, like a switch, like a network thingie, something.....but NOT MQ!

Agreed

That is far to regular a time stream to be anything

My immediate thought was the heartbeat but if it still happened on shutdown for other apps then it cant be.

Were the 2 servers built up by the same guy?

maybe if they were then he / she may know

Peter

I only asked because we have a password synchronization software product that can be made to synchronize at set intervals...out of the box it is every 10 minutes but is tailorable per box I believe.

solved!

"it was identified by Network Operations personnel that a sniffer SPAN was on the network configuration under review. (A SPAN is a software command used when a sniffer is installed to mirror network traffic) Removal of the SPAN was found to resolve the issue. The detailed root cause is not known at this time, however, we will coordinate with Cisco to review the details of this problem. The ongoing use of network sniffers and there potential impact to the infrastructure will also be reviewed."

When they removed this SPAN thingie, the pings returned to normal, and so did the flow of MQ messages.
