Running out of primary logs (having many secondary logs) means that you didn't go a good (enough) job of calculating primary log file size and number requirements. Having a few secondary logs likely means that you hit a spike in workload. |
Read sarathmattam's post again.. I think you'll come to a different conclusion. |

Not relevant in this case. Circular logs are in use here, not linear. There is no opportunity to "manage" the log files manually with circular logging. PeterPotkay's post is the best so far on this. |

Thank U all for your valuable inputs .. I have resolved the issue by recreating the queue manager and pointing the log path to a mount point where we have enough space.
The reason why this happened is because of poor allocation of space to /var. But, it was done long back and we cant change it now.
Thank u all once again ..
Regards,

While I'm still cutting my teeth on MQ administration one of the things I did was sym link (AIX or LINUX) to a remote filesystem.
My FDC files were getting in the gigs. FDC files I have learned something bad is happening on your server. I had a damaged object and no backup so it took me awhile to recover.
Anyway, this is an OS level way I used to get more log space while I figured out my damaged object issue. |
