We have just recently implemented the MQ 'feature' for SDSF and it is certainly very useful.
It looks like there is lots of potential here for consolidation to a single control point using MQ and SDSF so.....is it coming any time soon?
At the moment we can only work within a SYSPLEX....but I see no real reason why this restriction exsists.....if the MQ network is established then you 'should' be able to communicate between different PLEXs I would have thought.
Thoughts? |

I ran the wizard and I use those definitions in the PARMLIB member but it looks like SDSF only wants to talk to members of the MAS....which is fine and works really well. It really helps us when we are logged onto a different LPAR and we get a call about another LPAR. Works like a charm.
I was just wondering if IBM are planning any sort of support for members outside of the MAS. I see no reason why they shouldn't....but I guess that is really a question for the SDSF team. |

SDSF utilizes MQ in order to give more complete details on things like syslog and joblogs if the job is running on another LPAR in a SYSPLEX. In the past you had to log off from one LPAR and on to another (or switch between them) in order to get 'up to the second' detail.
It sure makes problem solving a lot quicker here. No more 'hold on while I log onto that LPAR' |

The feature lets you view the entire sysout (bytes in the buffer) that is running on a different lpar then the one you are logged on to...
