I'm new to MQSI and understand that the NEON... nodes were a vers 1.1 node. However, I see the nodes in the command center for vers 2.2. Do I need to use them if I have no vers 1 rules or formats?? Are there other nodes to do the same thing in vers 2.ox? I'm confused.

NEON nodes offer upgrade path for MQSI v1 users, however these tools are also complementary to the v2.0.x functionality. If you're working with delimited/variable length messages NEON could be a better option. As of version 2.0.2 the NEON mappings (in the NEON domain) are now accessible to the other processing node functionality, so the best of both worlds can be had.

Thanks so much. When someone talks of 'rules' it is my understanding that the Filter node is where decisions are made on message routing, is that true? Also, is it possible to create 'rules' on the fly?? I guess I'd like to see a good definition of 'rule'. Some of these basic concepts are paramount to good architecture.
Thanks,
Jac

In general, I don't usually use the term "Rules" with MQSIv2. That term tends to be used more with the older NEON stuff which had a distinct notion of a "Rules" with a specific GUI interface to define the rules. I find that MQSIv2 is a more general, robust environment. But if you have to find an equivalent, I suppose that "Rules" are effectively handled as Filter nodes, or alternatively as RouteToLabel nodes. A Filter node is really just like an "If-Then" block, versus the RouteToLabel which is more like a "Select".

As for "creating them on the fly", that isn't really supported for Filter nodes, although you could work something out with the RouteToLabel. Another nice alternative for "on the fly" is to use the MQSIv2 Pub/Sub feature, which does support Content Filters for Subscriptions. The Content Filters are really dynamic selections for the Subscriptions.
