I would like to create an application to monitor MQSeries instrumentation events. The events can occur across several AIX and OS/390 nodes. Because I want to centralize the monitoring activities, I am defining all the event queues on these platforms as local definitions of the same remote queue on one queue manager. I want to come up with a good design to process the event messages. One design I had in mind was to create an MQSI flow that will get the event messages and write any the useful information to a Lotus Mailbox for review. One problem with this is that the flow would be on one of the nodes. Obviously if MQSI failed so would the processing of event messages. Then again I guess there will always be point of failure.

Does anyone have experience or input as to the design of home grown event monitoring apps ?

Thanks,
Jason
