For sanity sake,....

If you did not specify a LogFilePages value it defaults to 4 meg. You may want to backtrack and re-create your MQManager specifying "-lf 16384". That will make the files 64 meg instead of 4meg.

If you have enough space this will reduce the amount/frequency of your /active file maintenance.

Then edit your qm.ini LogBufferPages stanza to 512.

Since nobody took an example, I thought I will and try to explain it to you.

If you go by all default values, you will have 3 primary and 2 secondary logs with the default page size of 4MB. So in total you can have at any instance of time 20MB of log space available before queue manager taked a sync point and starts a new log. So say if you have 10 2MB messages coming through and your app is slow in processing them, you will run out of active log space as these are now in flight. This will be beter understood if you consider these coming from a remote queue manager and your channel is configured to a batch size of 10 or more..
