Dear MQ Professionals,

I've some doubts about the MQ active -active configuration setup.

->I would like to take two servers (Node 1 and Node2) for MQ active -active setup does MSCS has own LB? or Separate LB(load balancer) required?

->Why don't we use same QMGR name in both nodes ? If we use same QMGR name in both nodes is any issue occurred...?(different shared disks)

->IF we use single share disk for both nodes like A-P , what will happens in A-A?

-> Suppose if we've different QMGS names in both nodes If we use separate shared disks for two nodes ,When node 1 got down then node 1 data and QMGR will move to NODE2 server with pointing node 1 shared disk to NODE1 QMGR in Node 2 server?

Ex: I've QMGR1 running Node1 server with separate shared disk and QMGR2 running Node2 server Separate shared disk .if Node1 down due to some reasons , then Node1 QMGR(QMGR1) will automatically point to Node2 server along with Node1 shared disk?

->How the applications communicate to MQ QMGRS in active-active.?

kindly help me out to get clarify on this.

Regards,
Ashok

I suggest you read the following articles, then come back with any further questions:

MSCS - Hints and Tips

MSCS - Introducing Clusters

MSCS - Queue Managers

Remember! If using MSCS, only the servers are active/active - the queue managers are active on only one server.

Phrased a bit differently....
An individual queue manager on a MSCS cluster will only ever be active on one Windows server.

You can have multiple queue managers on a MSCS cluster. Each queue manager will be in in their own MSCS resource group (disk, virtual name/IP address, queue manager). The individual resource groups can be moved independently between the Windows servers. So you could have QueueManagerA running on Server1 and QueueManagerB on Server2. Or if needed both queue managers can be running on the same server.

AIX Power HA clusters can also have multiple resource groups (disk, virtual name/IP address, queue managers) that can be moved about to suit planned LPAR outages etc.
