I don't know whether there is a way to configure "swift 7.6.0 saa apps" to provide a user id and password when it connects to IBM MQ.

However, should there not be a way, remember that it is possible to configure the MQ client to use a user id and password by using the mqccred client side security exit. This was designed to allow a user id and password to be supplied for applications that were not coded to allow it within the application itself.

You can read up about mqccred here:-

Thanks for reply.

You are right, in general mqccred works when you have mqchltab+mqchllib env. variables.

On my unix swift setup i see only mqserver env. var. and a tab file in /opt/mqm/qmrs/.... and i am not sure if it used and if swift connect as client.

1. Can i create mqchltab+lib and remove mqserver? Will it work or its a waist of time?
2. Other suggestions?

MA

You mention that you are not sure whether your swift application is actually connecting as a client. You should determine this before changing anything. Use DISPLAY CHSTATUS and DISPLAY CONN commands to find the current swift application connection to see how it is making the connection.

If you can confirm that the swift application is indeed connecting as a client, you can replace the MQSERVER environment variable with the use of a CCDT. It will work and is very definitely not a waste of time.

If you discover that the swift application is running as a locally bound connection, the use of mqccred will not be possible as that is a CHANNEL exit. You could at that point make the required changes to the application code, or convert it to run as a client if it is essential that your locally connected applications provide a user id and password at connect time.

Cheers,
Morag
