When replying by mail. When replying on line you can only reply to the sender. The list doesn't allow you to edit the field and the content is wrong... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Still trying to fix this.
Below is the rejected email when I click the Reply button in an attempt to reply to a post. I do not use my email client software; rather, all of my interaction is with the Vienna web page. How to fix?

Well I guess its broken if your only way to use it is the website. Some/many(?) people (myself included) have it set up to get emails when posts are made, and it is when you reply to a post using your email client that correcting the email address in the To: field is appropriate.
Is there a way to report to the listserv admin people that this is broken? If the work-around doesn't work on the website, then they really do need to get that fixed. I'm not familiar with using it from the website (only go there very occasionally to look at archives). Is there a contact admin link? |

About a month ago I found some obscure link at the Vienna University and wrote to the person mentioned, (in German), alas to no avail... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

How do you reply by email? I've been using UofV's fill-in-the-blanks webpages - with no success, same error. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

First you need to subscribe with options to receive emails for each post, then you reply to the email you receive, and change the email address when you do.
How is it that you get notified of ListServer posts? Do you get a weekly summary perhaps? Or do you just go to the website and look regularly? Or what? _________________ Morag Hughson @MoragHughson

I’ve been a registered user tor more than a decade. I get emails regularly, and until my OP here, all was well.
Mr. Brandelik mentioned that he posted by email. How exactly?

I just use my email client and reply to the email that was sent from the Vienna List-Server. Until recently that was all I did, now I have to alter the email address when I reply as is described repeatedly through this thread. _________________ Morag Hughson @MoragHughson

Morag.
How do you craft a reply to a post in email format? Can you provide an an example, please?
How do I specify in my email which post I'm replying to? _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

I don't do anything special. I just hit reply and type some words. I imagine that the subject line is what ties the posts together.
Why don't you just try and see what happens? _________________ Morag Hughson @MoragHughson

bruce2359,
The email reply is to an email that shows the original post from the list serve. Decades ago I registered via email to the MQ list serve. I never knew there was a website interface. All posts, replies and managing the subscription were done via email.
I do look at the website now but only to confirm that my emails actually make it. I used to have my list serve subscription options set to have the list serve cc me on my own emails but that stopped a few years ago for me. I have zero luck posting or replyng on the website, email only works for me. You have to use one email address to post new and another email address when replying. If you are subscribed to the list serve using email to begin with. _________________ Peter Potkay

For clarity...
When I wish to reply to a post on the Vienna site, I click the pen icon at the far right of the page where I am reading the post. Clicking the pen icon returns a fill-in-the-blanks page (quoted below) - not my email client. Do you have a different experience? I've looked for a setting that launches my email client to send a reply, but found none.
The fill-in page looks like this:
Quote: |
Message Posting
Send a message to the list
MQSERIES@LISTSERV.MEDUNIWIEN.AC.AT
Name:
Bruce Lerner
To:
To the List (MQSERIES@LISTSERV.MEDUNIWIEN.AC.AT)
To the Poster (DamianC@NEDBANK.CO.ZA)

Re: how do apps connect to 2 seperate non clustered qmgrs each in it's own Azure Zone servicing client connected apps only |
It seems that I can successfully send the post directly to the Poster - Damian Costa, To the List fails. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Most of us do not use the website at all. Its pure email. New posts show up as emails in our InBox. We reply via email to the ones we want. A couple of years ago we had to start changing the address we were replying to because it no longer worked (after 20 years) to just hit reply and send back to the address that showed as the sender. _________________ Peter Potkay

Thanks, I've given up all hope on the Vienna website.
So, when I click reply in my Hummingbird email client, I'm presented with an image of the OP. Should I (do you) erase all of that content and merely type your reply? Do you leave the OP in place, and add your reply comment?
I've tried both, neither successfully posts.
I've altered the TO to MQSER-L@listserv.meduniwien.ac.at doesn't seem to help. I might be a bit impatient here. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Since I subscribe to get a single email for each post, rather than a digest, I leave all the content in there and merely type my reply.
It is possible that the digest emails don't know how to tie up to the post because the subject line isn't for one post. Perhaps you can tell us what your subject line says?
Of course, there is nothing to stop you simple creating a brand new email and sending that to the list-server address to post something.
Cheers,
