Greetings ...,

I know one can use the -stashed flag when using runmqckm to access kdb. But I wonder how does a mqclient application access the kdb in the same manner?

There seems to be no environment variable for such a flag. This is a gap in my otherwise OK understanding of SSL in MQ.

Would an expert please fill me in on this? it must be a trivial matter I believe, but which I've been unable to turn my brain around.

thanks a lot!

MQ Clients and MQ Queue Managers get the kdb password from the stash file. Such elegance and beauty.

MQ Client can only work with a stash file, so you can imagine it is like the -stashed flag always being use. Of course the MQ Client does not use the runmqckm command to access the kdb, but instead uses a programmable interface, but the theory is still the same.

There is no configuration control on this because there is no choice in the matter. The MQ Client must ALWAYS have a stash file in order to use the kdb.

Use of -stashed or the programmable interface both look in the stash file to discover the password to use.

Cheers,
Morag

Please clarify. Are you asking how a user application interrogates the kdb or stash?

User apps don't do either. As Morag noted above, the MQ Client code does this for your apps.
