We are using linear logging and have recently upgraded MQ from v7.5 to v9.1.0.7
After the upgrade the active log cleanup is not happening, and on browsing found out that the MS62 is not supported by IBM and it stopped clearing logs from v9.0 onwards.
in MQ v7.5 we used to run the MQMAINT job daily and it used to take a backup of the QMGR artifacts and clean up up the active log files. Now since the Cleanup is not working its filling up the File system.
Can someone please help or guide if there is an alternative support pack we can use to remove the active log files. As per the IBM manual, it points us to the rcdmqimg and dmpmqlog. any examples on how it can be done will be helpfull |

You need to look at qm.ini and set logs to automatic. In the log stanza set the log management to automatic (output or amqmdain: LogManagement, Value = Automatic) Then go to the qmgr and fill in the relevant fields and let the queue manager take care of cleaning up the logs. You can force the first cleanup to reclaim space with the reset qmgr command:
Code: |
reset qmgr type(reducelog) reduce(max) |

thanks for the reply ---
Added extra storage and Cleaned up the active logs manually for now and restarted the QM, which resolved the filesystem issues.
But to test the Auto cleaning option on a test QM i have edited the QM.ini stanza and included the 'LogManagement=Automatic' and restarted the QM.
Now when ever we run the mqmaint job its clearing out some of the active logs.and this with this we are acheiving what was like before but,
Just wanted to check what are the relevant that you were referring to --- 'Then go to the qmgr and fill in the relevant fields and let the queue manager take care of cleaning up the logs'
NOTE: the QM is in linear logging mode.
Please advice. And thank you very much for the reply |

I believe that what fjb_saper was referring to is automatic media imaging: Taking media images automatically - linear logging only. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |
