Has anyone ever seen their multi-instance MQ report like this? This is unscrubbed data so you can see what I see.

We will be opening a ticket with IBM.

It shows the MQ node is both active and standby at the same time. The 2 nodes are slscrubbedbktm51 and slscrubbedbktm52. slscrubbedbktm5n.scrubbed.com is the fqdn for each host.

[ mqm@slscrubbedbktm51:/home/mqm ]
$ dspmq -x
QMNAME(BKTM5X_1) STATUS(Running as standby)
INSTANCE(slscrubbedbktm51.scrubbed.com) MODE(Active)
INSTANCE(slscrubbedbktm51.scrubbed.com) MODE(Standby)

[ mqm@slscrubbedbktm52:/home/mqm ]
$ dspmq -x
QMNAME(BKTM5X_1) STATUS(Running)
INSTANCE(slscrubbedbktm51.scrubbed.com) MODE(Active)
INSTANCE(slscrubbedbktm51.scrubbed.com) MODE(Standby)

You guys were useless but I will share my findings with you anyway

Not sure why it was the way it was (probably a storage snafu), but after talking to IBM, what we did to resolve the issue was stop the queue manager and delete the 3 files

/var/mqm/qmgrs/<qmgrname>/active
/var/mqm/qmgrs/<qmgrname>/master
/var/mqm/qmgrs/<qmgrname>/standby

Then restart the queue manager

For all of your nonexistent help (i am known as a crotchety ole curmudgeon for a reason), here is a bonus command IBM gave me that is undocumented:

dspmq -xf... the -f arg, shows you what is in those files we deleted

dspmq -xf was news to me. I already knew how useless this forum is. It is so useless that I keep coming back for more.

The MQ Times

Random Group of Strangers on Internet No Help

In a surprise development today, a group of random people on the Internet were no help whatsoever. Critics claim that the group in question, an assortment of ner-do-wells nerds, are never any help but this was rebutted by a spokesman.

"It's not that we don't want to help", he claimed while speaking on condition of anonymity because of outstanding warrants, "it's that we've been worthless for over 15 years now and frankly, we're getting old. Giving out partially useful, misleading or just confusing advice takes it out of you. Especially when a lot of us are hiding our utter lack of knowledge behind sarcasm"

The police had no comment, but asked for contact details.

Ohio. It takes it out of you.

I had to take me out of Ohio before I crumbled.

No, you'd had half a glass of fortified wine and couldn't focus. Or stand.

In fairness to @exerk, the camera did need a few shots of courage before looking at me and the auto focus just couldn't bring itself to do it.....

If, as I suspect from your posting history, you work for a financial institution with a predominantly green logo in the capital of Ohio, then no, we have not. Though I did once have an account with that institution.

If my suspicions are wrong then possibly and my secret identity is in peril.

(Peril is a small town in New England where my secret identity likes to spend the fall)

If you have no diagnosed history of work related stress, that's another clue we have not shared a workspace. Likewise a lack of documented instances where people have run from the building screaming.

Not the green Hexagon bank. I did work there however. I also worked at a company that had a red parallelogram logo that sold and distributed electrons and was headquartered in the capitol of Ohio.

I was thinking possibly you were the mainframe MQ admin there because that company also moved some business to Texas.

MEH. Nice knowing you anyway. In 2031, if/when I am allowed to go to a conference again, maybe I will see some of you.
