If a Queue Manager is migrated to MQ 9.1 and ImplSyncOpenOutput is not set in the qm.ini file, is the default behavior of the queue manager the same as if ImplSyncOpenOutput was there with its default value(2)?

Actually, looking at some QMs built at 9.1, I don't see that stanza either.
What is the behavior if ImplSyncOpenOutput is not set?

The benefits of persistent messages under syncpoint only apply when putting, not getting?

ImplSyncOpenOutput is 2 if you don't set it in qm.ini

I wouldn't expect to see the stanza there just to convey the default value.

You might find this blog post from Mark Whitlock of IBM Hursley (which moved and took me a moment to track down again) interesting to read:-

Implicit syncpointing for persistent messages put outside of syncpoint

Thank you for finding that article in it new location. I remember reading it when it first came out.

There are other stanzas in qm.ini that are there by default just to show the default so wasn't sure what to assume.

Hey! Reminds me of my RFE to allow us to query the Queue Manager about all the parameters and values its running with
