Is it a custom install? _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

Please display the output from dspmqver -i and 'set | grep MQ'. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

Is your install being made by root or a different user?
How was the rpm command run? _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

So it's a custom install then, because otherwise it would default to /opt/mqm and /var/mqm.
What are the rpm package names you are installing please? _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

but this custom install is the issue i don't want the installation to go to /home/mqm/IBM/MQ/data i want it to go to" /var/mqm " but it goes to /home/mqm/IBM/MQ/data without me or anyone making any changes. |

What are the package names you are installing, what is the command you are using to install them? _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

Is this the redistributable client that you are installing?
If so, from IBM Knowledge Center:-
Knowledge Center wrote: |
The default data path of a non-installed client, on Linux x86-64 is $HOME/IBM/MQ/data.
You can change the default directory of the data path, by using the MQ_OVERRIDE_DATA_PATH environment variable. |
