There are plenty of monitoring tools out there. (for free and for $$$). Check them out and see if they work for you...

Jacob,

As has already been mentioned there are lots of tools out there, each with their own pros and cons. It would be very hard for someone to be completely objective especially vendors, such as myself, who will naturally try to push their own products.

You need to decide just what the requirement is. For example, you say that you want to monitor number of messages processed by QM. But is it really as simple as that? Would you not want it broken down by queue ? Bear in mind that the monitor program itself is likely to significantly affect the number if you just go for a single total. How do you need the data displayed? Do you need it stored etc. As you add each feature I suspect the price of the solution will increase.

Do a little Googling and take a look at some of the products....some of the players are (or were):

IBM Tivoli
MO71
QPasa
BMC Patrol
N a s t e l Auto-Pilot

and I suspect many more....

Cheers,
Paul.

Start with the standard MQ statistics and accounting features.

These generate messages which can be analysed with some of the support pacs - notably MS0P.

It really depends what you want the information for, whether you need to process it automatically or manually and how often you need to know it.
