I get that under no circumstances should archiving be turned off in Production.
In this case, it is a test queue manager, used only for running QA scripts. This was tested with a program that did a looping MQPUT1, and for our purposes, seemed to work fine. It ran through multiple iterations of looping through to all four active log datasets without problems and without requests for archiving, which was the primary concern.
At this time, resource constraints demand that we not use archiving. We will test with the users input and if it breaks, go back to management with request resources for archiving. It is good to know that it may run fine for a time and the seemingly no reason, break.
