As the subject says. If a trainer is coming to your company and training aboudt 15 people. You are arranging travel and accommodation.
Do you pay the trainer before the training? or after the training? or 50-50?

Why not ask the trainer ?

Does your company pay its debts in a timely manner ?

timely manner is again subjective!

Do you pay credit card bill when you get the bill or 2 days before its due or you pay first and then use

Also trainer and company are 3rd party , i am not directly linked to them. The Trainer is a first time trainer and she is not aware of when to ask for payment. So I am actually posting on behalf of a trainer not the company

In US, if the customer company is reputable and in good standing with its creditors and the BBB, it is common to have a written agreement between the vendor and the customer company that specifies the terms of payment. Most common are a purchase order is required to be issued by the customer company prior to final negotiated service date that specified the number of hours and the hourly rate signed by an officer or delegate of the company with authority to obligate the company to such debt. The vendor then performs the labor (training or software development or whatever) and sends an invoice along with a copy of the purchase order to the accounts payable department, itemizing any expenses such as travel, hotel, food, entertainment etc. This bill would have a statement at the bottom which says something like "Past Due after ten days, service charge of ten percent per 30 days arrearage." If the customer company does not pay the invoice within 30 days, a new invoice is sent adding ten percent penalty to the total amount. In certain metropolitan areas, WMB developers get US$325 per hour plus expenses. Often a customer company will provide living accommodations on top of that rate also. Short term assignments make the rate go higher. Longer term assignments such as six months or one year incur the rate specified. If the company is smaller in size, or has a history of non-payment, then of-course full payment would be required up front.

Only if @lancelotlinc is negociating the rate. Developers that work for me get considerably less, and are often glad to simply escape the site alive & only need to pay 2 months of therapy for rehabilitation into society.

I fondly remember the guy who walked out of his contract after his family did an intervention....

Note: Bill rate is not the same as labor rate. W2 is much better than 1099. How you handle taxes will determine your net income. Negotiating W2 compensation rate is an art. Per diem is your best friend, as it lowers your tax burden and gives you cash for what you'd pay for living expenses anyway. You must share your bill rate with your agency, which can often be 50% of the bill rate. In NYC, you pay federal, state, local, and city income taxes which can equate to more than 70% of your net. You must be willing to loose some jobs based on rate, if you expect to get top dollar. Pricing yourself out of a job is better than working for peanuts. Anticipate some unemployment downtime (aka vacation), and make saving money a priority. You should follow Dave Ramsey's advice. Bank one-third of your net income each payday. Don't buy anything on credit, which includes cars and homes. Pay cash for everything you buy. Don't get into debt in the first place, and if you are in debt, get out as quickly as possible (you don't need that junk you bought with credit cards anyway). If you don't have enough cash, then you don't have enough cash (save more money). Require a sixty-day severance clause in all your offer letters. This protects you from body shops. Stand firm on everything you demand from the recruiter. Don't compromise on anything as it means you do not honor your own word if you do compromise. Figure out ahead of time what you will accept, then stick to that.
