Is there a trial version of ISB v 9 available for download other than the one in passport advantage site?

I could not find one under the trials and downloads in IBM's site.

Seems to be v8 still.

I would imagine that the "trial" version of WMB has been replaced by the Developer edition of IIB.

(I am not now nor have I ever been part of the IBM Software Packaging or Licensing Team, all opinions are my own & do not form part of any IBM policy or statement of intent and the value of your investments can go down as well as down apparently).

Yep, we're in the final stages of putting together the IIB V9 developer edition - like for v8 we plan to make it available shortly after GA, but no announced date.
For now you've either got the V8.0.0.1 developer edition on the external website, or the full IIB v9 on Passport Advantage.

I hope you will be the first to let us know here when it is available for download!

Got the IIB V9 from Passport Advantage

Interesting to see that it will not support MQ V 7.0.0 and need to update to MQ V 7.5.0.

The Name Broker is been replaced with Integration node.
Execution group is been replaced by Integration Server.

And Many more (yet to explore)...

Yeah, my machine now says
Code:
BIP1280I: The number of IBM Integration Bus runtime installations on this machine is '3'.
BIP8221I: Broker: BROKER70 (Version v7.0)  -  BROKER70
BIP8221I: Broker: BROKER80 (Version v8.0)  -  BROKER80
BIP1284I: Broker 'NODE90' on queue manager 'NODE90' is running.
BIP8071I: Successful command completion.

So much for naming standards...

The infocenter has a good overview on integration node vs. broker. See here: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/wmbhelp/v9r0m0/topic/com.ibm.etools.mft.doc/bb23814_.htm

For OO people, the best way to think of it is 'integration node' being the abstract parent class and 'broker' being the concrete implementation.

An integration node describes anything that can run integration logic, of which a broker (i.e. something you create with mqsicreatebroker) is an implementation.
The reason we're starting to talk about this parent type is that there are an increasing number of places that can host integration logic - the broker for sure, but WAS 8.5.5 can host service mappings, and you could argue that standalone applications invoking DFDL libraries are integration nodes of sorts. And of course there'll be more integration node types to come in follow-on releases.

WESB technology remains in market, supported, meaning that WESB users can migrate to Integration Bus when ready.

Any idea of how long this support will last before WESB is sunset ?

The idea is to provide some time to migrate off of WESB. WMB has a WESB emulation mode which effectively makes transitioning WESB assets to IIB easy for existing customers. WESB 6.2 EOL is 2014. Lifecycle dates for 7.0 and 7.5 have not yet been announced. No further product development of WESB or new WESB licenses are being sold. When you say WESB is "in market"; this is not accurate.

The BPM 8.5 family blurs the lines a little - 'Mediation Flows' can still be built in Integration Designer (even in the latest release) and deployed to Process Server Advanced.

If you have a few minutes, check out This Week On developerWorks starring yours truly, talking about what's in IIB V9.

Probably at least until IBM have completed all their planned development of the WESB conversion tools built into IIB such that they believe that the WESB artifiacts still beyond the reach of the conversion tools will always be beyond the reach of the conversion tools and will just have to be ported manually. I don't see IBM sunsetting WESB until the off-ramp is fully functional; what are they going to say to the WESB customer base: "Yes, you're trapped on an unsupported platform with no recourse but a lot of manual effort. Sucks to be you".

That's a solid 2-3 years of development and dovetails nicely with the probable EOL dates for WESB 7.n

(I am not now nor have I ever been part of the IBM team concerned with this & all opinions are my own)
