All:
I have released the next beta v0.4.0 of MQ Visual Edit. This is a 'everything about Message Descriptor' release. The most requested feature, over the last several months, was to add the ability to edit the Message Descriptor (MQMD). So, let me know what you think.
The following enhancements / fixes have been made:
- Added the ability to edit (and save) the MQMD (Message Descriptor).
- Added support to select the MQMD columns on the main panel.
- Merged Simple Edit Message panel with Hex Edit and editting of MQMD
- Added the ability import or export messages on the main panel.
- Added support to remember last accessed queue manager profile.
- Added proper Table row header.
- Updated docs (English only)

Also, sorry for the delay in getting out the next release of MQ Visual Edit , but I had web hosting problems and other projects were taking up my free time. Hopefully, my web site will be stable and available 99.99% of the time.

All:
I received a bunch of emails from people who had download the latest version of MQ Visual Edit but were experiencing very weird screen displays. The only thing in common was that they were using Java v 1.3.x.
Oops. I tested the latest version on 3 different PCs and thought it was ready for prime time. The problem was that all 3 PCs had Java version 1.4.x. In programming the new features for MQ Visual Edit, I accidentally used methods support only under v1.4.x. Therefore, I have gone back and retrofitted the code to support v1.3.x.
I have posted the next release (v 0.4.1) of MQ Visual Edit at my web site. Hopefully, this will solve the problems.

I would be interested in hearing what version of Java (v 1.3.x or v 1.4.x) do most people use.

Can I use MQVE to access AS/400 QMGR.
I tried to use it. But I am not sure if all the functions are supported.
Which radio button should I select - Distributed or Mainframe ?
I tried both and the connection TEST was OK. I could view the messages on queues but I could not LIST the queues.

Hi,
This used to work on AS/400 boxes but I can no longer test it (I don't have access any more.).
I thought it worked when you select 'Mainframe'.
Hummm. I'll see if I can find an AS/400 box.

Hi Roger,
I've downloaded the latest beta version. I'm getting an error for the following scenario.

I've got a TESTQ which contains messages that are of the dead letter format.
I get the error - Reason Code 2119.

Hi,
You get that error because MQ Visual Edit is doing a GET with convert (from different platform). But you should still get the messages but unconverted.
I will need to look into properly handling getting messages from remote platforms for queues like dead letter and transmit.
