For what it's worth.. English is my mother tongue, but I have not received any teaching (formal or informal) on this particular matter. So I would use - and did use - what comes naturally, though this might not be "correct" as per some documented norms*. Perhaps I was unconsciously relying on dialects I am familiar with, I'm not sure. One has to accept that dialects of speech can affect one's written English, and can tend to obscure one's meaning.

*However, the documented norms will be geographically limited in their applicability (eg. limited to north of the Mason/Dixon line, going by George's experience) and do not describe correct usage for all English speaking peoples.

I am more interested in English than in MQ sometimes. More interesting than MaxActiveChannels at this point in time, anyway

Quite.

And a little while ago this thread was discussing MaxChannels/MaxActiveChannels and George was going to raise a Feedback using the proper Information Center pages.. any luck with that, George?

yes, the Feedback link in the MQv7 InfoCenter is currently broken, apparently. I've taken steps to alert the relevant parties.

....

And it seems they've done something as it seems to be working now. Give 'er another go, George.

Nope, I can still get there ... I think they need to kill or replace or do some thing with these urls:

First got to here:
http://www-01.ibm.com/software/integration/wmq/library/library700.html

then hit v7.0.0 tab and get this url

http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0m0/index.jsp

and seached for MacChannels and got same garbarge.

Tried refreshing page and still get this:

MaxChannels (MQLONG)

This is the maximum number of channels that can be current (including server-connection channels with connected clients). The value must be between 1 and 9999 and has a default value of 200. It is possible that a system which is busy serving connections from the network could need a higher number than the default setting. You should determine the value that is correct for your environment, ideally by observing the behavior of your system during testing.

To determine the value of this attribute, use the MQIA_MAX_CHANNELS selector with the MQINQ call.

Yes, that's the v7 Info Center.

On every page under that, you will see a link called "Feedback".

If you click that, it should show you a form to fill in...

But it appears to be broken again..

It *was* working earlier today... I assure you. Hrm.

Try this URL, and I suggest you delete bookmarks to that old defunct one.

geeze, that's subtle.

Yes, use the version without the maintenance level 0 in it.

I sent feedback on the
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0/index.jsp infocenter about the
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0m0/index.jsp url.

I had a chat session yesterday with a rep and gave the problem to them but nothing had changed today ... hopefully tomorrow the page will be gone.

Don't know why it is there ?

Actually got some follow up from IBM on this:

Quote:
Hi, Sorry to hear about your less than satisfactory experiences with the infocenter you've quoted.

This infocenter is for WebSphere MQ 7.0.0, and is not maintained or updated. It was published purely as a reference for a small number of customers that use that particular version of WebSphere MQ. It is unfortunate that it appeared highly ranked in the list of search results in Google, as the thread suggests.

For the latest WebSphere MQ V7.0.1 publications, see:
http://www-01.ibm.com/software/integration/wmq/library/

For the latest WebSphere MQ V7.0.1 infocenter, see:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/wmqv7/v7r0/index.jsp

These are regularly updated. If you would like to comment on our documentation, please use the Feedback link in the WebSphere MQ V7.0.1 infocenter quoted above.

George, I think it would be courteous to remove all the guy's identity / contact info from your quote above. I'm guessing he didn't expect them to be published on the internet.
