Your summary is spot on. Except that it's only MQ that get's impacted. Panels, display commands to the qmgr. Messages building up etc. From what I've seen no other applications are impacted and MQ was changed to run at SYSSTC. No contention has been found on the system either. Like I said, this is a VERY strange one. Happened on Thursday and Friday last week and again yesterday. Nothing today. |
Ive used MQ on z/OS for 10 years and have encountered various performance problems. DASD (disk) contention, CPU starvation and not enough storage (memory) have been culprits. What else is running in SYSSTC? Maybe CICS or DB2 is stealing CPU from MQ. You performance team should be able to identify whether the MQ started tasks are just idle or they are waiting on resources. _________________ Glenn |

From the OP: after 20 minutes or so...
I would be cautious about referring to an occasional 20 minute lack of response from a normally well-behaved subsystem "a performance (tuning) problem."
The post suggests (as many do) that nothing has changed (that might have lead to this behavior). Yeah, sure. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Would have been nice if we had heard any cause/solution of this case... |
