Hello all.

Our MQ configuration will ultimately consist of over a thousand MQ base Java clients connecting to MQSeries queue managers with Pub / Sub brokers (Support Pack MA0C).

Currently the platform of choice is a Windows 2000 cluster. Based on the large number of clients and message traffic, we anticipate needing 4 active Windows 2000 servers in the cluster (possibly more), each running a single queue manger and broker.

We would like to move to a Sun Solaris platform, and I was wondering what are some of the pros and cons of doing so.

Are there any articles or white papers comparing MQSeries on the two platforms? Things like performance comparisons, configuration issues, etc.

In other words, I need to sell this to management.

Any advice or opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Scott

Scott,

Try the Support Pacs.

There's no platform vs platform comparisons, but there are performance reports for most (all) the major platforms.

Cheers.

I have some years experience in Computer Performance (though not of this particular setup).
I would say that you will at least be free of the clustering overhead (which can be considerable).
Sun also have a good reputation for reliability.
