... and I need to ask a simple question.

According to IBM's documentation WAS runs on Linux. I just need to know
whether it runs happily on Oracle 10 Release 2?

Because apparently we seem to be running into character set issues.
Which is strange, since the Oracle and WAS locales are exactly the same.

You don't say which version but you can find out here:

It looks to be supported, but I did not check older versions.

I Can't help on the character set issue though - if you post more details maybe someone else can.
