AMQ8118: WebSphere MQ queue manager does not exist.

[lc4eb4724136025 Downloads]$ dspmq
QMNAME (CONFIG2) STATUS(Ended unexpectedly)

I don't have access to Linux, but on AIX, if the directories exist, but the qm.ini file is missing, I can get dspmq to think the qm exists, but dltmqm fails (with a different error on AIX - INI file missing).

Since Jeff said he shutdown the Linux box without ending the qmgr, I am guessing that the qm.ini file is damaged in some way.

So the actual cause of the problem was a mangled mqs.ini

The QueueManager stanza for my BROKER2 queue manager - which I was trying to delete, ended up having two name clauses.

Like
Code:
QueueManager:
     Name=BROKER2
     Prefix=/var/mqm
     Directory=BROKER2
     Name=CONFIG2

So dspmq reports the last Name found, and dltmqm couldn't match that with an existing qmgr - because the name being reported was the last one found.

With that done, dgolding is being announced as the winner of our December Challenge.

We are still hammering out the next January Challenge question, should be there in the next few days.

2 other Challenge categories results are being tallied and 1 winner along with a polling scheme for membership voting on the other are being prepared and should be posted shortly.

Congratulations Don. Please send me your address details so we can ship your MQSeries.net coffee mug to you.

A big day for me - start the new year as you mean to go on.....

I can't remember my exact answer but it was along the lines of the mqs.ini did not match up with what was actually there

Happy New year to everyone

There were a few possible right answers. Don's was the first received, came in via email, was actually tried out. It was correct.

' The file system is corrupt /var/mqm/qmgrs/CONFIG2 does not exist, but there is an entry for CONFIG2 in the /var/mqm/mqs.ini '
