Hello folks,

I am pretty much a newbie on mainframes. I started working on the federal reserve of some country and we use MQ on z/OS. I am trying to figure out a way to administer the MQ objects using the MQ Explorer interface running in a workstation and avoid using the ISPF interface. Is this possible?

Thanks!

And an intermediate queue manager or the Client Attachment Facility.

You can also run runmqsc commands directly against the subsystem.
If for example your QM has the prefix "//" you can type in console (or netview, or sdsf, or or...) mqsc commands like so:

//DISPLAY QLOCAL(*)

This is my personal preference, since I dislike the MQ ISPF interface, and command-typing is always fastest and most up to date.

Not exactly. The command would look like cpf DISPLAY QL(*). cpf is your console prefix character(s) for the queue manager you want to respond to your query. Look at sys1.parmlib(iefssnxx) for your z/os system to discover the cpf.

So, for example, if your qmgr cpf was +MQ51, then the command would be +MQ51 DISPLAY QL(*). If done from SDSF, use /+MQ51 DISPLAY QL(*).
