Hey all,

I read in the books that the bridge monitor transaction and the bridge task transactions must both run on the same CICS system.

According to what i have understood, the monitor trans is issuing exec cics start trans(ckbp/ot my transaction) and ckbp is issuing exec link program.
What i'd like to understand is why does the transaction monitor (ckbr) and the DPL transaction must run on the same system? What does it do the disables it to start the transaction in another, remote system. We do start trans() in remote systems all the time..

Any idea?
Hope some of you know the mechanics beter than I do and can explain it to me..

Hilla.

With MQ version 6 you can use transaction routing by specifying the target system in the RemoteSysId field of the CIH header.

In earlier MQ version the CKBR and CKBP transcations used an in memory table for passing status and so couldn't be routed. This has now been removed.

Note: The target CICS system must be connected to the same queue manager as the monitor, or a member of the same QSG if using shared queues.

Even with older MQ version you can define the program to be linked to as a CICS remote program. If you do this the remote system used does not need any connection to MQ

Hey!

Thanks alot for this answer.
Another question i have, after reading your reply, is : is it possible to do a dynamic routing of the transaction by using CICSPLEX? or must i write specificaly the remote system?

Thanks again!

You should be able to use dynamic transaction routing though it hasn't been explicitly tested.

Note: When using the 3270 bridge all transactions using the same bridge facility must be started in the region that owns the bridge facility. However this does not apply to you with the DPL bridge.

Hey bob, and all

I tried, with my cics team, to do a dynamic transaction routing but didn't succeed. we used our own transaction (instead of ckbp), and defined our dynamic routing program as the CICSPLEX program.

Do you have any idea?

Is there anyone with experience in this kind of routing in the DPL bridge?

another thing - where can i read about MQ routing? (people told me that if i don't succeed in the cicsplex dynamic routing, then i should use the mq routing..)

What do you think?

Thank you very much for your help.
Hilla.
