Well, This always worked for me on HP and AIX.

ipcs -a | grep mqm | while read d1 d2 d3
do
ipcrm -$d1 $d2
done

Did you read the conditions necessary for the failure?

Here is the first part of ipcs output:

s 393216 0x66009222

It is possible for the ID to be 10 chars long, and the output would look like this:

s1234393216 0x66009222

In that case your script would fail, because the 2nd positional parameter is now KEY, not ID.

Incidentally, why does the script read KEY from the input but do nothing with it?
