somebody already explained this, the explaination is written in the application programmers guide and in the application programmers reference. please do some rtfm...

a compute statement is a cobol statement, details may be found here

the result of this arithmetic operation is 8194

if you do not know what open options are, then you should read the mqseres manuals (see above)
