HI ,

I have worked on MQ series on windows platform , but i am pretty new to Mainframes . before understanding mq on mainframe i need to know something abt the mainframes .
So can some one please tell me some doc abt mainframes from where i can understand things like :
1. howto check sys log in mainframe,channel logs etc.....
2. understand terms like XPARM, ZPARM ,BSDS etc.....

for 1. it is better to ask a collegue how to work with your specific environment. every mainframe has a syslog, but there are many ways to access it, so this may be different from shop to shop.

2. the mq setup on the mainframe is completely different from what you know from windows. start with the mqseries for zOS concepts and planning guide, zOS system setup guide, zOS system administration guide and have a z/OS collegue at hand for questions.

there is much to learn, so good luck.

There is a good series of IBM Redbooks called something like the "ABCs of Z/OS System Programming".

Also, don't expect to get away with posting Mainframe only questions here. You'll rapidly tire and annoy all of the people who are willing to answer those, and then they will stop answering.
