Hi
We have a scenario on AS/400 where the old Journal receivers are removed from System frequently. So next time when Queue manager is attempted to start, error message that 'WebSphere MQ journal entry not available for replay' is displayed. The error code is AMQ7432 .
Is there a way to record the actual image using RCDMQMIMG before removing the old journal receivers, would this help in any way to start the Queue Manager without restoring old journal receivers.
Please let me know
Regards

You should not remove journal receivers that are still needed by the
queue manager. MQ tells you the name of the oldest journal that is needed for recovery. This is ( i believe ) a manual process.
Read the iseries system administration manual. This explains the use
of rcdmqmimg and journals for MQ. |

Actually the Operations team remove the journal receivers which are old, to keep the free space at a particular level.
So do you still suggest not to remove the receivers? isn't there any other way even if receivers are removed bit still having the Images intact. Thanks |

I would not remove any journal receivers which are still required by the
queue manager.
If space is a issue then the RCDMQMIMG can be used to force a
checkpoint and an entire media image.
There will be a message in QMQMMSG which tells you the oldest required
journal. |
