It does seem a bit odd that the default LONGRTY would be so long, though. I would have expected, without looking at the manuals, that it would be on the order of a week, instead of thousands of years.

From about 50 different sites I support/supported at one point in the past only 1 of them bothered to look at such "arcane" parameters as LONGRTY, MRRTY, BATCHSZ, HBINT, DISCINT... not to mention Queue parameters...
